Revelation 2:27: ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’— as I also have received from My Father;

Jesus and His Word

Christ promises believers who are faithful that they will join Him in His millennial rule. The word “rule” means “to shepherd,” indicating that they will not simply be administering justice but will also, like a shepherd using his rod, be dealing with his sheep and protecting them as well. Though Psalm 2:9 refers to Christ’s rule, John’s quotation of it here relates the ruling (shepherding) to the believer who overcomes. 1

Jesus and His Ways

  • Jesus, I can not even imagine the future You have prepared for me. Please teach me to live faithfully for You each day. – “To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 1:5–6
  • Jesus, thank You for shepherding me now, so I can shepherd others in the coming kingdom. – “I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom is from generation to generation.” Daniel 4:34
  • Jesus, please keep my eyes daily fixed upon You and my heart fixed steadfastly on the millennium with You. – “Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.” Revelation 20:6
