Revelation 3:10: Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

Jesus and His Word

This last commendation is that this church kept the Word of Christ in patience. This is evidently the patient waiting for the coming of Christ for His own. It has been in the present century that the doctrines of eschatology have been developed more than in all previous centuries combined. During the past forty years, there has been a revival of interest, both in Europe and in America, in fact, all over the world, relative to the second coming of Christ. Even the liberals talk about it now and then. 1

Jesus and His Ways

  • Jesus, may You supply all the grace I need. I want to pray for patience and perseverance during the overwhelming trials of life. – “Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 3:5
  • Jesus, may You supply all the faith I need. I want to pray to You with complete certainty. – “I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, and heard my cry.” Psalm 40:1
  • Jesus, may You supply all the hope I need. I want to pray to You and receive the comforting promises of Your word. – “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope.” Psalm 130:5

Jesus and His Promise

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body. Philippians 3:20–21
