Proverbs 31:21–22: She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet. She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

Insight

Cold weather does not cause this woman to panic for her household; she is prepared for it. She has clothed them in scarlet, that is, she has provided expensive garments. She spares no cost in protecting her family from the cold. She even makes her family’s bed coverings. She clothes herself in fine linen and purple. Linen is made from flax and purple is a dye made from a shellfish. 1

Application

A woman, whose is a wife and a mother, is always busy. But she doesn’t cut corners when it comes to feeding her family, and is willing to go “out of her way” to obtain the best quality and price. She knows where the deals are. She is not ashamed to shop at thrift stores. Her patience in shopping saves thousands of dollars each year. She also ensures that her family is well-clothed for every season, and every growing age of the children. Husbands, do you allow your wife to shop where she wants and spend what she needs because you trust her completely? Do you thank your wife often for her stewardship over the household? Do you let her know that you are blessed by her diligent efforts to feed, cloth, and care for you and the children?

Motivation

The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. Proverbs 31:11

Trust is a treasure that will either build or bankrupt a marriage. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, help me to recognize Your loving ways in others.
