Godly Encouragement for Daily Living

A PROMISE

For godly sorrow
produces repentance
leading to salvation,
not to be regretted;
but the sorrow of the world
produces death.
2 Corinthians 7:10

A Prayer

Heavenly Father…
Thank You for teaching me…
…about the different kinds of sorrows that exist.
I was schooled in worldly sorrow.
I know what it is like to feel bad about something I did wrong.
Or how I hurt someones feelings with my words.
I let someone down. Or I lied and got caught.
I asked for forgiveness. I said I was sorry. I felt that was good enough.
That episode is best described as how worldly sorrow works.
But Godly sorrow personally penetrates the soul.
It is being broken hearted over my sin.
It is confessing my sins to God and seeking His forgiveness.
It is repenting and reconciling my heart with His heart.
It is seeking a deeply felt forgiveness from the one I offended.
In Jesus Name. Amen.
