Psalm 139:2: You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

Thou knows my down-sitting and mine uprising. Me thou knows, and all that comes of me. My most common and casual acts, my most needful and necessary movements, are noted by thee, and thou knows the inward thoughts which regulate them. Whether I sink in lowly self-renunciation, or ascend in pride, thou sees the motions of my mind, as well as those of my body. Sitting down to consider, or rising up to act, we are still seen, known, and read by our Lord. Thou understands my thought afar off. Before it is my own it is foreknown and comprehended by thee. 1

Living the Transformed Life

The Lord listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord And who meditate on His name. Malachi 3:16

  • The One who knows you knows the hurt behind every tear you have shed. You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book? Psalm 56:8
  • The One who knows you wants you to know that your tears will be used in the future to water all the seeds you have sown. Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. Psalm 126:5
  • The One who knows you will lead you, even when you are loss. By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8

With God, there is never a wasted tear.

Praise and Prayer

Thank You, Father, for knowing me and still choosing to love me. Dear Jesus, thank You for comforting me in my sadness and sorrow.
