1 John 2:8: Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.

When Christ was born, “the Dayspring from on high” visited the world. “Dayspring” means sunrise. The birth of Christ was the beginning of a new day for mankind! As He lived before men, taught them, and ministered to them, He spread the light of life and love. But there is a conflict in this world between the forces of light and the forces of darkness. “And the light is shining in the darkness, and the darkness is not able to put it out” (John 1:5). Satan is the Prince of darkness, and he extends his evil kingdom by means of lies and hatred. Christ is the Sun of Righteousness (Mal. 4:2), and He extends His kingdom by means of truth and love. The kingdoms of Christ and of Satan are in conflict today. The darkness is passing away little by little, and the True Light is shining brighter and brighter in our hearts. 1

Loving Him

The new commandment is actually the old commandment published again. It is the commandment from the very beginning. To love God and to love others. His love in us and through us is like a shinning light. It is the true evidence that Christ dwells in you. May your decisions be based on this: “Will this decision allow me to walk in His light, and to be a light of His love to others?”

But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. Proverbs 4:18
