Revelation 3:17: Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked

Jesus and His Word

The church has failed to tell me that I am a sinner. The church has failed to deal with me as a lost individual. The church has failed to offer me salvation in Jesus Christ alone. The church has failed to tell me of the horrible consequences of sin, the certainty of hell, and the fact that Jesus Christ alone can save. The church must bring me not a message of “feel good” but of rebirth. I might fail that kind of church, but that kind of church will not fail me. 1

Jesus and His Ways

  • Jesus, without You, I am desperately lost. Thank You for saving me, a wretched sinner. – “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3
  • Jesus, without You, I would be living in continual sorrow. Thank You for ministering to my broken-heart. -“Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
  • Jesus, without You, I would be headed to hell with a very dirty soul. Thank You for cleansing my heart and purifying my mind from all my wicked sins. – “Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8

Jesus and His Promise

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind.” Luke 4:18
