Revelation 3:17a: Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’

Jesus and His Word

They believed that the dollar was the answer to every problem of life. After World War II that was the assumption that the American government was run on. All we did was dole out dollars all over the world, thinking that we would buy friends, make peace, and settle the problems of the world. We thought that money would solve the problems of the world. My friend, riches never solved any problem. 1

Jesus and His Ways

  • Jesus, teach me how to invest in the things that matter most for eternity. May I be rich in faith, hope, and love. – “But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:20–21
  • Jesus, teach me how to treasure the real treasures of life. May I serve others, like You have served me. – “Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Matthew 6:20
  • Jesus, teach me how to be about my Fathers business. May I gaze more upon You and Your glory. – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.” 1 Peter 1:3–4

Jesus and His Promise

Moses esteemed the reproach of Christ as greater riches than all the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward. Hebrews 11:26
