Proverbs 31:23: Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.

Insight

A noble woman enhances her husband’s standing among those who transact legal and judicial affairs at the city gate among the elders. Though she is obviously competent, she functions in a way that honors her husband’s leadership rather than denigrates it. She respects him and builds him up. 1

Application

Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. Ephesians 5:33

What is it that a husband needs the most? He needs the respect and encouragement from his wife. Not a complaining and contentious spirit. Not a demanding and “your never good enough” attitude. The pressures a man faces today to provide and protect and to stay morally pure are immeasurable. He needs a safe place called home. He needs a respectful and understanding wife who will greet him as he returns home with a joyful heart of thanksgiving. Do not tell him all the things that went wrong right away. Give him time to recover from the days battle. Welcome him home as your hero. Let him know that there is no other lover he needs, because of your love for him. Tell him of your excitement to be with him when the kids are asleep. Things will get fixed, and problems will get solved, but let your demonstration of love and respect dominate his life like never before. p.s. He needs you more that you realize.

Motivation

Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. Colossians 3:19

Leadership begins with an attitude of love and forgiveness in the home. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, I admit my need for Your help to fulfill Your calling in my life.
