Proverbs 31:23: Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.

Insight

Her husband too is honored and esteemed. His place as sitting among the elders of the land implies that he occupied a seat in the gate of the city, as a judge, or a magistrate. His wife’s thrift and good judgment reflect credit upon him, adding to the esteem in which he is held. Such a spouse is indeed “a help meet for him.” 1

Application

A wife respects her husband by encouraging him is his place of leadership in the home and in the community. She does not live independently of him. Her choices will reflect upon the type of marriage they have. Regardless of all the other responsibilities that a wife has, her primary place in life will always be as his help mate. Be aware of the influence of the culture. The culture will never honor God or His Words. Be confident in your calling from God. If you honor the Lord with your life and your choices, you will always be a blessed and fulfilled woman. You are never to criticize your husband or the husband of another wife. You can pray, but guard your heart and tongue from spreading poisonous venom.

Motivation

Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:31

The measured words of a wife can make or break her husband. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, please teach me how to strengthen the good name of your faithful servant.
