Proverbs 1:2–3: To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding, To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity.

Insight

These verses elaborate on the qualities of life that must be acquired for leading a wise life. A disciplined life is one with high moral standards, a life in which one does what is right … just, and fair. An immoral or unjust person can hardly be called wise in God’s sight! 1

Application

To know wisdom – means I will abide in fellowship with God.
To perceive understanding – means I will yield to the Holy Spirit.
To receive instruction – means I will study the Word of God.

Motivation

“When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” John 5:6

Prayer

Father, please forgive me for failing to abide with You as my greatest priority in life, and for failing to yield to Your will with humility, and for failing to study Your Word with consistent diligence. May Your grace help me make the appropriate changes to live a more disciplined life for Your glory.
