John 4:23–26: But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”

In spite of her ignorance, there was one truth this woman did know: the Messiah was coming and would reveal the secrets of hearts. Where did she learn this truth? We do not know, but that seed had lain buried in her heart until that very hour, and now it was going to bear fruit. Our Lord’s response to her statement was, literally: “I that speak to thee, I am!” He dared to utter the holy name of God! At this point, the woman put her faith in Jesus Christ and was converted. 1

Your Word is Truth

Jesus said that He is the Word of God, and He is speaking to us today. Is your worship based upon His greatness, found in His written word, or is it based upon your feelings and personal needs?

For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus. –1 Timothy 2:5

You Alone are God

The One who spoke the world into existence still speaks through His word. – TWEET IT

Your Will be Done

Lord, keep me from religious tradition. Draw me to Yourself, in spirit and in truth.
