Romans 3:21: But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets.

It is the righteousness which God provides. Christ has become our righteousness. “We are told in 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” It is very important for us to recognize that God is the One who provides this righteousness. It’s not something that you and I can work out, but rather it is something that God has provided for us. A righteousness that God demands, God also provides. 1

The greatest display of this radical righteousness was of course the life of Christ. From a human perspective Jesus Christ achieved eternal life through sheer merit. He is the only man who ever deserved eternal life simply by the way he lived. Jesus is the radical righteousness of God! 2

Application

  • Have you come to realize that God never asked you to “measure up” spiritually? (Because it is impossible. We relate to Him based on His grace, not our merit.)
  • Have you accepted (with all your heart, soul, mind and strength) His righteousness to be applied to your spiritually bankrupt account? Receive His deposit by faith.

Prayer

Lord, help me to live my life in the liberty of Your righteousness for me.
