Revelation 3:18c: I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

Jesus and His Word

Sir William Ramsay has this very helpful comment in his excellent book, The Letters to the Seven Churches of Asia: “The Laodicean Church must also learn that it is blind, but yet not incurably blind. It is suffering from disease, and needs medical treatment. But the physicians of its famous medical school can do nothing for it. The tabloids which they prescribe, and which are now used all over the civilized world, will be useless for this kind of inflammation of the eyes. The Laodiceans must buy the tabloid from the Author himself, at the price of suffering and steadfastness.” 1

Jesus and His Ways

  • Jesus, thank You for opening my eyes. I want to see You. – “He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.” John 9:11
  • Jesus, thank You for opening my eyes. I want to know You. – “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.” John 12:40
  • Jesus, thank You for opening my eyes. I want to follow You. – “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12

Jesus and His Work

Blind eyes will see, when the blinded heart sees the need to surrender completely to Christ. – TWEET IT

Jesus and His Promise

For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. Psalm 18:28
