Proverbs #:#: My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life and peace they will add to you.

Insight

This is not given like a stern command. My son. It is our Father’s voice speaking. This is the endearing persuasiveness of a promise. Having told us to search for wisdom, he now calls us to put this into practice when he says, do not forget my teaching. The deliberate forgetfulness of the heart, rather than a lapse of memory, is implied here. As the ark of the covenant was kept in the tabernacle, we must keep [God’s] commands in our hearts. 1

Application

How can you do better at knowing His Word and keeping His Word? Perhaps taking more time to allow your mind to meditate on His Word. For example, consider Proverbs 3:5-6. Read it several times right now. The challenge: be committed to memorizing it this week. The results: this verse will add peace to your life!

Motivation

He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” John 14:21

The Word of God is the most sacred possession hidden in the heart of His children. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, may I delight to know and obey Your abiding word each day.
