Proverbs 30:18–19: There are three things which are too wonderful for me, Yes, four which I do not understand: The way of an eagle in the air, The way of a serpent on a rock, The way of a ship in the midst of the sea, And the way of a man with a virgin.

Insight

The kingdom of nature is full of wonder, and these wonders are full of instruction. Where the philosopher cannot give a reason, the humble disciple may learn a lesson. The depths of nature are figures of the depths of sin, of the unsearchable, deceitful heart. Eminently practiced is the seducer in the depths of Satan, and a thousand tricks does he use to allure the affections of his unwary victim. And it is often as difficult to penetrate his designs and to escape his snares as to trace the way of an eagle, the way of a snake, or the way of a ship. Let this be a warning to young and inexperienced females not to trust their own purity or the strength of their own resolutions or to place themselves in unprotected situations. 1

Application

But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

God also illustrates His power to overcome the difficulties of this life by using the life and flight of an eagle. Perhaps it’s time to wait. Will you wait upon the Lord? Will you let His strength become your strength? Will you be renewed in His plans for you?

Motivation

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. Psalm 139:6

Use His wings, and He will lift you up, and take you out of all your weariness. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, please help me to trust You for everything, for You deserve all my trust.
