Jesus is Essential

John 9:1–5: Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

God has created you and me for His glory. He did not create us that we might try to be a somebody down here. He created us for His glory. If we miss that, we miss the entire purpose of our creation. These trials and sufferings come to us because they bring about the glory of God. This blind man, through the healing of his blindness, will bring about the glory of God.

Not only will this blind man see (and think how much he would enjoy seeing all the rest of his life), but also he will see Jesus Christ and come to know Him as his Savior. Now Jesus reverts to His original statement. “I am the light of the world.” The night makes all of mankind blind. Christ is the spiritual Light of the World, and without Him everyone is blind. He is the Light of the World. He is still in the world today, my friend. He comes to us in the person of the Holy Spirit. 1

Walking with Jesus

What difficult trial are you currently facing? Do you believe Jesus will “see you through” the process? Are you reading His word in order to receive His light? How will the fruitful results of this trial bring Him glory? Is your hope completely in Him alone?

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10

Jesus heals spiritually blind eyes, leaving the darkness, entering His light.

Praying

Lord, thank You for opening my eyes to see Your goodness and Your faithfulness.
