2 Corinthians 6:1–2: We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

It was Paul who had gone to Corinth with the Good News of the Gospel; and through his ministry, the church had been founded. He had fulfilled the work of the “ambassador” described in 2 Corinthians 5:18–21. It was not the Judaizers who had won them to Christ; it was Paul.

But even now, Paul was not certain that everybody in the church who professed to be saved was truly a child of God. He quoted Isaiah 49:8 as his appeal for them to receive God’s grace. Because of the reconciling work of Christ on the cross, today is indeed “the day of salvation.” There is no guarantee that any sinner will have the opportunity to be saved tomorrow. 1
