1 Corinthians 12:8: For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit.

The list here includes nine gifts.
(1) Wisdom refers to insight into doctrinal truth. Paul exercised and expressed this gift in this letter (2:6).
(2) Knowledge refers to the ability to apply doctrinal truth to life. Paul also exercised and expressed this gift in this letter (12:1–3; 11:3) 1

Application

  • Read Proverbs 1:7. What does it mean to “fear the Lord,” and why is it so important?
  • Read Proverbs 1:28-33. Theses verses are very important. They reveal the reality of rejecting the Lord or seeking the Lord. This is how you apply knowledge and get wisdom.
