1 Corinthians 10:18–19: Observe Israel after the flesh: Are not those who eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything?

The idol was nothing, and that which was offered to the idol was nothing. This, however, does not alter the case. For although there are no such beings as those whom the heathen conceive their gods to be, and although their sacrifices are not what they consider them, still their worship is real idolatry and has a destructive influence on the soul. 1

Application

  • Read Ephesians 2:1-7. What were you delivered from? What were you delivered to?
  • How can you worship Jesus today as your Deliverer?
