Proverbs 28:25: He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered.

Insight

The contrast between the greedy man and the one who trusts in the Lord is very remarkable. It shows that pride is the root of unbelief. The man, having cast off God, expects nothing and fears nothing from him. He lives as if there is no God. Christian, dread any occasions of stirring up dissension, the cancer of vital godliness. 1

Application

Then He came to Capernaum. And when He was in the house He asked them, “What was it you disputed among yourselves on the road?” But they kept silent, for on the road they had disputed among themselves who would be the greatest. Mark 9:33–34

I can not emphasis enough how important it is to keep near to your Lord. It was when the disciples were talking together by the way, instead of walking in close communion with their Master, that strife was stirred up. Avoid stirring strife, and avoid those who like to use your ear to spread strife.

Motivation

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. Jeremiah 17:7

The joy of a prosperous soul is the result of a heart that has been deflated from pride. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, however you must, please keep me humble and quick to repent of a prideful heart.
