Revelation 22:12–13: “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

God is mindful of our sufferings and our service, and nothing will ever be done in vain if it is done for Him. This is a great encouragement to anyone who seeks to serve the Lord. Whatever God starts, He will finish; for He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, the first and the last. 1

Your Word is Truth

Eighteen months ago we began a journey together through the Gospels, studying the life and ministry of Jesus Christ in chronological order. We started with His first coming and we are ending today with His second coming. His Word has enriched our lives over the 539 consecutive days of devotional Bible studies known as DiscipleshipLiving.

My personal desire was to grow in my love for God and my love for others. By the grace of God, I am making some progress, but I am also more aware of my failures. The Gospels have made me very excited to meet our Savior face to face. What a marvelous day that will be! However, I am even more committed than ever to be about my Fathers business until He takes me home. As a pastor, the primary way I can honor God is by giving out His Word every day. Not only do we receive His Word, but we are encouraged to obey His Word and live a life that glorifies Him, through the power of His Holy Spirit.

Tomorrow we start a one-verse-per-day journey through 1 John. This short epistle was written to establish and secure the foundation of our faith in Jesus Christ, and so we could experience His love, and joy, and fellowship. I hope you will run this race with me, and that you will invite others to join you. It will build you up with biblical truth, and offer practical applications for daily living. It is only by His Word that we are able to live a fruitful life.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And prosper in the thing for which I sent it. –Isaiah 55:11

Your Will be Done

Lord, thank You that my soul is always satisfied by receiving Your living Word.
