John 10:22–26: Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.
Jesus had made His identity very clear, and those who accepted Him understood that He was the Messiah, the Christ. Remember that Andrew had told his brother, “We have found the Messiah.” Nathanael recognized Him, “Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.” Also the man healed of his blindness believed and worshiped Him. Now these religious leaders with their subtle questions are actually casting the blame on Him! They make it sound as if it is Jesus’ fault for not giving enough information, whereas it is their lack of will to believe what God had revealed to them. Jesus has revealed His messiahship to those who will hear. 1
Your Word is Truth
The Bible says that our “lives are hidden in Christ.” What Christ-like character is seen in your life? What one area of your life needs to identify more with Jesus? When was the last time you told someone that you found the Messiah?
“Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.” –John 4:42
