John 8:13–18: The Pharisees therefore said to Him, “You bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not true.” Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going. You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me. It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.
Sometimes, however, self-authentication is the only way to truth. Sometimes an individual is the only one who knows the facts about himself. And only God can give testimony to Himself. Jesus was competent to give a true witness of Himself because as God He has a comprehensive knowledge of His origin and destiny. In spite of what the Pharisees thought they knew about Jesus, they were ignorant of His heavenly origin and destiny, and thus were invalid judges of Him. 1
Your Word is Truth
When was the last time you actual were a witness for Jesus? Pray about that today. Ask God for a divine appointment to make Him known to one other person.
But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.” –John 7:29
