The Life and Ministry of Jesus
When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Mark 2:5–7
Their example teaches us about faith which makes the most of the Lord’s power. Their faith was persistent. When they got their friend on the stretcher, there was no stopping them. When they came to an obstacle, none of them said, “Well, the door is closed. I guess this isn’t the Lord’s will.” Such faith unleashes God’s power. Their faith was also creative.
Undoubtedly some were standing by who, seeing the others’ success, said “Why didn’t I think of that?” The answer is, they did not believe as passionately and love as much as the four. A faith which truly believes that Christ is the only way will be inventive! Also, their faith was sacrificial. Somebody would have to pay for the roof or fix it, and that would take time, labor, and expense. A faith that brings Christ’s power to the world is always willing to pay the price. 1
Personal Encouragement
What does Jesus see in you? Does He see a persistent, creative, and sacrificial faith, or does He see worry and anxiety? Surrender it all to Him today. Repent of unbelief. Let Him know you want to start again. To trust Him like when you first believed.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
A believing faith is a faith-willing to do what others only dream about.
A Prayer
Lord, thank You for being so patient with me and my unbelief. I love You.
