The Life and Ministry of Jesus

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.” So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. And many more believed because of His own word. Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.” John 4:39–42

Many of the Samaritans believed because of the testimony of the woman, and then many more believed when they heard Jesus personally. So excited were they about Him that they begged Him to stay with them; and He stayed for two days. During that short time, His word produced fruit in their lives.

It is important that new converts be grounded in the Word—the Bible. These Samaritans began their spiritual walk by trusting in what the woman said, but they soon learned to trust the Word taught by the Saviour. Theirs was no “secondhand” salvation. They knew that they were saved because they had believed His message. “Now we know!” was their happy testimony. 1

Personal Encouragement

Do you have a “second-hand faith” or is your Christian walk based on first hand evidence because you are pursuing Jesus every day in His word?

But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:2

Knowing Him means I know His Word.

A Prayer

Lord, never let me drift from Your Holy Word.
