The Life and Ministry of Jesus
The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him. Then Jesus said to them, “I shall be with you a little while longer, and then I go to Him who sent Me. You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come.” Then the Jews said among themselves, “Where does He intend to go that we shall not find Him? Does He intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? What is this thing that He said, ‘You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come’?” John 7:32–36
Only six months remained in Jesus’ earthly pilgrimage—the period from the Feast of Tabernacles to the Feast of Passover. So he told the crowd that his invitation would be activated by the ascension.
How interesting that in verse 34 he said, You will look for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come. This is precisely the reverse message of John 14 where he told the disciples they knew where he was going and how to get there. 1
Personal Encouragement
God is actually extending you an invitation to really know Him. He reveals Himself to all those who seek Him. Ask God for His help. Ask Him to open your eyes to the truth of HIs Word. Ask Him to lead you. Ask Him to be filled with the fulness of His Holy Spirit.
Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:5–6
Once you receive His gift of eternal life, you will never be lost again.
A Prayer
Lord, thank You for revealing Yourself to me when I was so lost in worldliness.
