The Life and Ministry of Jesus
Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his food.
“Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out. And when you go into a household, greet it. If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city! Matthew 10:9–15
The Lord’s commission to us includes “all the world,” not just the nation of Israel. We preach the Gospel of the grace of God. “But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” (Acts 20:24).
Our message is, “Christ died for our sins,” and not, “The kingdom of heaven is at hand.” The King has come; He has already suffered, died, and risen from the dead. Now He offers His salvation to all who will believe. 1
Personal Encouragement
We have the blessed privileged of giving out the good news everyday. Do we believe it enough to live it as a lifestyle commitment for our King?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…” Matthew 28:19–20
If the Good News has not captured my heart, my message will have little effect.
A Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your gospel message that is for all people, all the time, in every place.
