FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God
Romans 6:17: But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.
FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God
In other words, when you were in the world, when you were lost, you obeyed sin. It was natural for you to do that. A man may live such an exemplary life that the chamber of commerce presents him with a medal and a loving cup and makes him the citizen of the year. I overheard such a man talking one time after he had been presented with the cup as the outstanding citizen of a certain community. The language of this man was the foulest language I had ever heard. He may be the outstanding citizen of that community, but it’s quite obvious whom he’s obeying. He is obeying the Devil! The fact that you obey Christ is the thing that is important. 1
FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God
Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Obedience to Jesus means I no longer live like a prisoner of this sin-filled world. I have been set free to live a new life in Jesus. We are set free by His saving grace, and we stay free by His sanctifying grace. That is why we must take every thought to Jesus Christ. It is an act of obedience to the Spirit of God and to the Word of God.
FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God
The deadly virus of sin has vacated our system by the blood of Jesus Christ; we are now immune from slavery, death, and hell. – TWEET IT
FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God
Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart. 1 Peter 1:22
Dear Father, I thank you for purifying my heart and soul…in Jesus’ name. Amen.
