FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God

Romans 3:16–18: Destruction and misery are in their ways; And the way of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God

As a result they and others are destroyed materially and spiritually, are miserable, and know no inner peace. All this is summarized in Paul’s words, There is no fear of God before their eyes. Fearing God (i.e., reverencing Him by worship, trust, obedience, and service) is the essence of a godly person. 1

FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6–7

Jesus, thank You for providing a peace that surpasses all understanding. And thank You for providing a way of escape from every temptation to sin. I am also thankful for a holy fear, to flee from the worldly ways through prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving. Finally, thank You for guarding my heart and my mind through the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.

FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God

When you fear the God of heaven, you no longer fear the god of earth. – TWEET IT

FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God

In mercy and truth atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil. Proverbs 16:6

Dear Father, thank You for the safe guard found in loving You with a holy fear. Teach me how to always depart from evil immediately…in Jesus’ name. Amen.
