FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God

Romans 5:12–13: Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned — For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God

Now we need to understand that the sin we’re talking about is the sin of Adam, that first sin of Adam—his first sin of disobedience in the Garden of Eden, which brought death upon all of his offspring. You and I are sinners, as we have said, in four different ways. (1) We are sinners because we commit acts of sin. Also, (2) we’re sinners by nature (sin doesn’t make us sinners, but we sin because we have that nature). (3) We are in the state of sin. God has declared the entire human family under sin. (4) Finally, you and I are also sinners by imputation. That is, Adam acted for the human race because he was the head of it. 1

FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God

Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. James 1:15

Jesus, thank You for teaching us about our sinful nature and our sinful practices. Thank You for the biblical truth that declares the human race to have a sin problem leading to an eternal death in hell. We must receive this bad news, in order to receive the good news: the gospel truth of salvation. No sin is beyond the complete forgiveness of Christ, His Cross, and His Victorious Resurrection.

FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God

Pride is a sin causing you to believe that you are better than you really are.

FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God

Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 1 John 3:4

Dear Father, please keep me from the temptation to sin…in Jesus Name. Amen.
