FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God
Romans 5:3–4: And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God
Justification is no escape from the trials of life. But for the believer, trials work for him and not against him. No amount of suffering can separate us from the Lord; instead, trials bring us closer to the Lord and make us more like the Lord. Suffering builds Christian character. The sequence is: tribulation—patience—proven character—hope. As we go through tribulations, and depend on God’s grace, the trials only purify us and help to get rid of the chaff. 1
FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Jesus, thank You for helping us to understand that life’s trials are allowed by You for our spiritual benefit. Your peace will always overrule the heartache that trials bring. It is when we are in the storm that the revelation of Yourself is experienced. What may seem like an overwhelming disaster, will actually work out as a character building exercise that leaves us more hopeful and more victorious, and more faith-filled.
FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God
Yielding to God in a trial is the best way to slay the negative thoughts of defeat, and to embrace the new thoughts of a character-building victory.
FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God
But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 1 Peter 5:10
Dear Father, thank You for Your strengthening grace that establishes me, settles me, and causes me to grow up spiritually…in Jesus Name. Amen.
