FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God

Romans 7:14: For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.

FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God

“But I am carnal.” This means, “I am in the flesh.” This body of ours is neutral and can be used for that which is either good or bad. Carnality refers to this old human mind and spirit and nature which occupies and uses the flesh so that actually the flesh itself is contaminated with sin. Flesh has no capabilities or possibilities toward God. It is dominated by a sinful nature, the ramifications of which reach into the inmost recesses of the body and mind. The frontal lobe of the brain is merely an instrument to devise evil. The heart of man is desperately wicked. He wants to do the things that are evil, and the body responds. 1

FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God

I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? 1 Corinthians 3:2–3

Are you ready to grow up spiritually? That means being willing to cut off the feeding tube to the flesh, and instead supply all the nutrition to feed your spirit. A well fed Christian will yield to the ways of the Holy Spirit, fleeing all the fleshly persuasions.

FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God

Carnality is the unsatisfied pursuit of a fleshly solution to meet a spiritual problem.

FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God

Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. Psalm 51:6

Dear Father, please forgive my carnal desires. Purify my soul and fill my inward parts with the fulness of Your Holy Spirit…in Jesus Name. Amen.
