FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God
Romans 12:15–16: Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God
Paul reminded them that they must enter into the feelings of others. Christian fellowship is much more than a pat on the back and a handshake. It means sharing the burdens and the blessings of others so that we all grow together and glorify the Lord. If Christians cannot get along with one another, how can they ever face their enemies? A humble attitude and a willingness to share are the marks of a Christian who truly ministers to the body. When a local church decides it wants only a certain “high class” of people, it departs from the Christian ideal for ministry. 1
FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God
Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me. Philippians 2:17–18
Being a follower of Jesus means our life is no longer our own. We belong to Jesus. We live for Him and for His purposes. We pour ourself out in serving others. We consider others with high esteem. We rejoice and we weep and we humble ourselves as we represent Jesus to a world…needing His love and His forgiveness of sins.
FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God
A kind and tender heart should not be just an occasional response.
FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God
“…that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel…” Philippians 1:27
