FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God
Romans 6:18: And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God
Paul says beautifully of them, “You wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted” (v. 17b). The heart is the wellspring of man’s spiritual life, and that is where the Roman Christians’ obedience was rooted. It was not just a formal obedience—it came from the center of their being. This is the example of slavery Paul holds up for us all: a heartfelt obedience to Christ and his Word. It is an obedience which brings liberation. “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness” (v. 18). Their obedience was to Christ. Consequently, they could no longer be slaves of sin. 1
FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God
Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Galatians 5:1
Everyone is standing in some place. So where are you standing? Are you standing in a place of salvation, or a place of sin? Are you standing in a place where the righteous of God is abounding, or in a place where the unrighteous of the world is prevailing? Are you standing in the victory circle of His grace, or in a place of darkness and defeat? Rejoice in the standing that He has given to you. You have been released and set free. You have become a slave of righteousness. Rejoice, again I say rejoice!
FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God
There is no better place to stand, then to stand in the grace of God.
FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God
As free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 1 Peter 2:16
