FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God

Romans 5:14: Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God

Paul is personifying death. He speaks of the fact that death reigned like a king from Adam to Moses. Although he had not broken the Ten Commandments—because they hadn’t yet been given—man was yet a sinner. The word death is used in a threefold way in Scripture. There is what is known as physical death. This death comes to man because of Adam’s sin. Also, there is spiritual death, which is separation from and rebellion against God. And we inherit this nature from Adam. Then there is eternal death. That is the third death that Scripture speaks of, and it is eternal separation from God. Adam is here definitely declared to be a type of Christ—“who is the figure” or “he is the type of him who was to come.” That is, Adam is a type of Christ. 1

FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. Hebrews 9:27

Jesus, thank You for delivering us from the fear of death. Death is inevitable and will usually come when we least expect it. The fear of death started with Adam, but it ended with Christ. He conquered the sting of death by His reconciliation on the cross. He defeated death so we could have eternal life the moment we are born again in Christ. Born in Adam, born again in Christ. From certain death to certain salvation.

FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God

When death was defeated on the cross, a life of fellowship in Christ began.

FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins. Ephesians 2:1

Dear Father, I will praise You all day for Your great forgiveness…in Jesus Name. Amen.
