FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God
Romans 1:8: First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God
Linus had just thrown a stick for Snoopy to retrieve. His first instinct was to chase the stick. But he paused a few moments and decided against it. “I want people to have more to say about me after I’m gone than ‘He was a nice guy … he chased sticks.’” When I am reminded of the gospel’s power to change lives, I am motivated to stop “chasing sticks” and get back to what is really important. Paul’s introduction to the book of Romans affect me, because in them he describes what is behind his own burning motivation to minister at Rome. They encourage us to “go for it.” 1
FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God
For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything. 1 Thessalonians 1:8
Jesus, thank You for helping me to stop chasing sticks. The world continues to throw sticks, and people continue to chase after the next new and shinny and cool thing. And once you retrieve it, and hold it, and enjoy it, you quickly become dissatisfied and discontent and await for the next stick to be tossed in your direction. May we known as people of the word, who give out the word, and who live by the word.
FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God
To be known as a person of faith in Jesus Christ is an utmost honor.
FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God
For your obedience has become known to all. Romans 16:19
Dear Father, I choose to obey You and make my faith known…in Jesus name. Amen.
