FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God

Romans 10:5: For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.”

FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God

If a Jew were to receive righteousness by keeping the demands of the Law, that would be human achievement; it would not be from God. However, a Jew would need to keep the entire Law perfectly all his life—an impossible task. But then Paul also quoted Moses in support of his righteousness-by-faith position centered in Christ as “the end of the Law” and the means by which righteousness is available for everyone who believes. It does not seem appropriate that Paul was merely borrowing Moses’ words and applying them to something foreign in Moses’ thought. This suggests, then, that righteousness … by faith is not a new concept, but had been proclaimed to Israel by Moses. 1

FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God

For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. James 2:10

This is great news and it should make you feel wonderful. You are a promise-breaker, and God is a promise-keeper. He is the faithful One. So trust Him for everything.

FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God

What you could never do, God did for you. It is finished!

FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God

So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” Luke 10:27

Dear Father, by Your grace, I desire to fulfill this command, by the power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus Name. Amen.
