FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God
Romans 1:27: Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God
Paul mentions a vile sin that was rampant in that day and has become increasingly prevalent in our own day; homosexuality. This sin is repeatedly condemned in Scripture. Paul characterizes it as “vile” and “unnatural,” as well as “against nature.” Because of their sin “God gave them up,” which means that He permitted them to go on in their sins and reap the sad consequences. God revealed His wrath, not by sending fire from heaven, but by abandoning sinful men to their lustful ways. 1
FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites. 1 Corinthians 6:9
Jesus, thank You for Your incredible grace that rescued me from sinful practices and delivered me before Your mercy seat to receive forgiveness. No sin is beyond the forgiveness of Your saving blood. We have all sinned and we all still struggle with the temptation towards various sins. There is a big difference between sinful struggles with brokenness and repentance and sinful practices with promotion and celebration.
FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God
If God considers something sinful, so should I.
FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Ephesians 5:6
Dear Father, may I have a growing hunger for more of You, more of Your truth, and more of Your ways for my life. Shield me from deception…in Jesus name. Amen.
