Romans 5:9: Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
Since the divine dilemma of justification (3:26) has been solved on the basis of Jesus’ shed blood (cf. 3:25), certainly Jesus Christ will see that justified sinners will be saved from God’s wrath. Believers will never be condemned to hell (John 5:24; Rom. 8:1) nor will they be the objects of God’s coming Tribulation wrath (1 Thes. 1:10; 5:9). 1
We will escape that day of wrath, not because we are worthy, but because we have been saved by the grace of God. We have been saved by grace; we live by the grace of God; and ten billion years from today we will still be in heaven by the grace of God. We are saved from wrath through Him—through Christ. 2
Application
- Was it God’s love or God’s blood that justified you to be a citizen of heaven?
- Will Christians be subjected to the wrath of God during the great tribulation? How can anyone on earth escape the coming tribulation?
Prayer
Lord, I am so ready to be home with You. Thank you for saving me for heaven and from the coming wrath.
