Romans 11:4–6: But what does the divine response say to him? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

God has a remnant according to grace, that is, in the body, which is the church. Though not many, there are Jews in the body, although, of course, all national distinctions are removed in Christ. But if God is saving Jews during this age of the church when Israel is blind, how much more will He do in that coming age when Israel moves back on the scene again? God has never forsaken His people; this is the testimony of history. 1

Application

  • How did God’s grace come to you before you were saved and committed to Him?
  • He saved you by grace, but He still relates to you every day by His grace. How is the “favor” of God with you today?

Prayer

Lord, thank you for the grace to see things Your way.
