Romans 6:20–21: For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.

Our young people have rebelled against the rules and regulations of the establishment and have been destroyed by the thousands by drugs and alcohol! What is happening in our culture today is one of the saddest things of our contemporary age. The Lord Jesus says that when you commit sin, you are the servant of sin. 1

The abiding truth is this: obedience is the key to our liberation. Irenaeus said, “The glory of God is a man fully alive!” Our spiritual life comes, of course, through our union with Christ. But the fullness of that life comes through obedience. G. K. Chesterton said,

“Obedience is but the other side of the Creative will.” Obedience looses the creative power of God in our lives. God will do great and wondrous things in and through the life of an obedient soul. 2

Application

  • Fact: whatever you sow, you will reap. “So,” are you satisfied with the fruit in your life?
  • I suggest it is time we put our hands to the plow, and sow to the Spirit, like never before. Just think of what God can do if we are fully yielded to Him.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for changing me into a vessel that can bring You honor and glory.
