Revelation 3:19b: As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

Jesus and His Word

This is an exhortation: “Be zealous therefore, and repent.” The church at Laodicea had to repent of their pride and humble themselves before the Lord. They had to “stir up that inner fire.” and cultivate a burning heart. 1

Jesus and His Ways

“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:6–7

Jesus, thank You for never giving up on me. Forgive me for my lukewarmness. I repent of my sinful thoughts and actions. I repent of not responding in obedience to Your commands. Thank-You for the spiritual gifts that You have given to me. May the fire of Your corrective love stir them up within me again. Free me from fear. I want to trust You with everything. May Your Holy Spirit fill me now with a renewed power, with a fresh love, and with a sound mind, filled with Your holy word.
