Psalm 49:16–17: Do not be afraid when one becomes rich, when the glory of his house is increased; For when he dies he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him.

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

Be not thou afraid when one is made rich. Let it not give you any concern to see the godless prosper. Raise no questions as to divine justice; suffer no foreboding to cloud your mind. Temporal prosperity is too small a matter to be worth fretting about. When the glory of his house is increased. Though the sinner and his family are in great esteem, never mind. For when he dies he shall carry nothing away. Not a rag of all his raiment, not a coin of all his treasure, not a jot of all his honor can the dying worldling carry with him. Why then fret ourselves about so fleeting a prosperity? His glory shall not descend after him. As he goes down forever, none of his honors or possessions will follow him. 1

Living the Transformed Life

What will you do in the day of punishment, and in the desolation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your glory? Isaiah 10:3

  • Our value in life is not evaluated by an inventory of all our possessions.
  • Our value in life is not evaluated by a resume of all our achievements.
  • Our value in life is evaluated by our faithfulness to The Faithful One.

Our value is truly found in the saving blood of Jesus who created us, redeemed us, and prepared a place for us. – TWEET IT

Praise and Prayer

Thank You, Father, for giving me all that I have, and all that I need.
Dear Jesus, teach me how to be a good steward over all You have entrusted to me.
