Psalm 31:3: For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, lead me and guide me.

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

Our reliance upon God in times of adversity is a principal method of glorifying him. Active service is good, but the passive confidence of faith is not one jot less esteemed in the sight of God. Therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me. Since I do sincerely trust thee, he says, O my God, be my director. To lead and to guide are two things very like each other, but patient thought will detect different shades of meaning, especially as the last may mean provide for me. The double word indicates an urgent need—we require double direction, for we are fools, and the way is rough. Lead me as a soldier, guide me as a traveler! Not for my own sake, but for thy name’s sake guide me. 1

Living the Transformed Life

Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. Psalm 25:5

  • When He is your Rock, He will keep the storms of life from dragging you back out to the sea of worldliness.
  • When He is your Rock, He will become a spiritual retaining wall, keeping the fiery darts of the enemy from piercing your heart.
  • When He is your Rock, He will direct your path, and take you to the best destination.

When you stand on the Rock, your walk will be on solid ground. – TWEET IT

Praise and Prayer

Thank You, Father, for always being the solid foundation that I need. Dear Jesus, please teach me to live everyday for Your name’s sake.
