Psalm 141:8–9: But my eyes are upon You, O God the Lord; In You I take refuge; Do not leave my soul destitute. Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, and from the traps of the workers of iniquity.

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

David prays that he will not fall into the trap of the wicked. The devil attempts to trip us up all the time, and he uses all kinds of devices. Unfortunately, we are not aware of many of his traps. We are not even as wise as the carnal Christians in Corinth to whom Paul said, “… we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Cor. 2:11). Some of us seem to be woefully ignorant of Satan’s devices. Oh, my friend, let us pray to be delivered from evil so that our prayers may be potent prayers. 1

Living the Transformed Life

My eyes are ever toward the Lord, For He shall pluck my feet out of the net.
Psalm 25:15

  • Pray that your eyes will be upon Him and not upon your situation. – Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens. Psalm 123:1
  • Pray for His Words to minister to your greatest fears. – The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death. Proverbs 13:14
  • Pray to the One who will never forsake you. – “The poor and needy seek water, but there is none, their tongues fail for thirst. I, the Lord, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. Isaiah 41:17

Darkness will always be against you, but His light has overcome the night. – TWEET IT

Praise and Prayer

Thank You, Father, for being my Deliverer and my Hope in the darkness. Dear Jesus, please teach me to trust, and to pray, and to rest in You.
