Proverbs 25:1–2: These also are proverbs of Solomon which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied: It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.

Insight

We are to “search out a matter.” Even then we need to recognize that there are a great many things that God has not revealed to us at all. I doubt if we would be able to understand them if He did. They are beyond the comprehension of man. However, what God has revealed to us, we should study; we should consider it. We should recognize our need to search the Word of God and to study it. 1

Application

In 2 Timothy 2:15, Paul communicates what God’s expectations are for every believer:

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Carefully evaluate how diligent you really are as a student of the Word of God. How much actual time do you spend on social media, and how much actual time do you spend on meditating upon the Word of God? Do your results portray someone who is seeking God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength? Pray about any changes that God would like you to make. Consult Him. Let Him speak to you about this matter. Then obey the things He shares with you. Respond with urgency.

Motivation

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9

God is not looking for you to respond out of duty, but out of love. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, please teach me more about being consistently in the Word with You.
