Proverbs 11:14: Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.

Insight

To depend entirely upon one’s own judgment is the height of folly. Even the wisest and godliest are often given to blunders and errors of discernment. To weigh a matter in the presence of God; to invite the counsel of those whose experience and spirituality evidence ability to try the things that differ, is the course of wisdom. Rehoboam lost the major part of his kingdom by neglect of this important truth; and many a one has suffered grievous loss for the same disdain of counsel and help. 1

Application

The blessed fruit of having committed discipleship relationships is the way God speaks into the important situations of life. When someone knows you and has prayed with you, and has served with you, there is a sweet fragrance because of the bonds of love and trust. Build those kind of friendships. Invest time. It will pay big dividends in the future, especially in a crisis.

Motivation

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:24

Godly words shared through a heart of humility, can be received as the wisest council at the right moment. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, thank You for the men and women that trust You and Your Word, and are gifted in sharing wisely the mind of Christ on the matters of life.
