Proverbs 13:21–22: Evil pursues sinners, but to the righteous, good shall be repaid. A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

Insight

The sinner pursues evil, but only to find evil pursue him; while the righteous man who extends his goodness to others is repaid in kind. And when at last called away from this world, the good man, whether he leaves a fortune in material things behind him or not, yet bequeaths to his descendants an honored name and a holy example—an inheritance of incalculable value. 1

Application

Paul provides motivation for generous giving in Philippians 4:17 – “Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.” So what are you doing today with consistency that will provide spiritual fruit and encouragement once you are in heaven?

Motivation

These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. Matthew 15:8
