Proverbs 16:25: There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

Insight

Those who refuse the Way, to tread a way of their own choosing, find no true joy or confidence. “They, being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God” (Rom. 10:3). Hence their way is one of doubt and uncertainty. Though they laugh, the heart is not at rest, and their amusement is destined to end in madness. Happy those who refuse every way of man’s devising, and turn to Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life! 1

Application

Why must we travel down the road of disobedience? The way of deceit often appears to be right, because we may be looking for a quick solution or instant gratification instead of persevering through the difficulties. Are you currently looking for an easy way to escape a difficult situation? Be careful. Take more time in His Word and in prayer. Meet with a trusted Christian friend who will tell you the truth, and not what you want to hear. Remember, we are in a daily battle, and deception is our enemies main tool.

Motivation

Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind also?” John 9:40

You are never more blind than when you write and read your own press clippings. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, please forgive me for ignoring Your way and exalting my way.
